They say the family that rides together sticks together and you know “they” are right!

Getting out there and going riding with the family, camped out in the bush sharing a camp fire in the evening or a swim in the dam - that’s where the memories are made. The kids are with mum and dad getting some fresh air and exercise as a family unit and stories are being shared about the excitement of the day’s trails.  But boy, how the logistics of taking the family camping with the bikes, trailers, barbeques and tents make a quick weekend away turn into a major logistical issue. Well, help is at hand in the form of “Let’s Ride” weekends!

Let’s Ride weekends are family-oriented events for the whole dirt biking family to enjoy, which also help to raise some much-needed funding for the Endeavour Foundation. Katie Beeby, the organiser of such events, says the aim is to take the hassle out of going riding with the family. “You just turn up and ride. All the catering is taken care of, and fully qualified ride leaders and sweeps are provided with all the necessary first aid and communications gear to make your weekend the most enjoyable possible.”

The focus is on getting families out there and riding as a group. The more advanced riders are catered for with some more technical and faster courses, while the younger members, or those that are not as confident, are catered for with some special novice activities. The Let’s Ride weekends are also a great setup for those that want a faster ride but, rather than having to leave other members of the family at camp or, even worse, at home, they know the family is being looked after by appropriately skilled people on trails designed to cater for the less advanced rider. New friendships are born and arrangements made for more weekends away with like-minded groups.

All meals are provided, which means not having to bring half the gear required for preparing and cooking meals and, at night, the crowd is entertained with video footage and photos of the day’s rides, while the kids can run around in a safe environment.

Let’s Ride weekends are just the ticket for the busy family.  More information can be obtained from Kate Beeby on 0402 750 900.
